Plate and frame filter press is a kind of equipment for solid-liquid separation, its main function is to separate the solid particles in the suspension from the liquid to get a dry filter cake and clear filtrate. The following is a detailed introduction of the plate and frame filter press:
1. Structure
Plate and frame filter press mainly consists of the following parts:
Filter plate and filter frame: The filter plate and filter frame are the core components of the plate and frame filter press, and they are alternately arranged to form the filter chamber. The surface of the filter plate is usually grooved to support the filter cloth and guide the filtrate flow. The filter frame is used to hold the filter cloth and cake.
Filter cloth: Filter cloth is a filter medium used to intercept solid particles and allow filtrate to pass through. The material and aperture of the filter cloth are selected according to the filtration requirements.
Frame: including thrust plate, compression plate, cross beam, etc., used to support and fix the filter plate and filter frame. The strength and stability of the frame are crucial to the normal operation of the filter press.
Hydraulic system: used to press the filter plate and filter frame to ensure the tightness of the filter chamber. The hydraulic system usually includes oil pump, oil cylinder, tubing and other components, and the filter plate is compressed and loosened by hydraulic pressure.
Electrical control system: used to control the operation process of the filter press, including the operation of the hydraulic system, the start and stop of the feed pump, etc. Modern plate and frame filter presses are usually equipped with automated control systems for remote monitoring and operation.
2, the working principle
The working principle of the plate and frame filter press is based on pressure filtration. Its working process can be divided into the following stages:
A. Press the filter plate: press the filter plate and filter frame tightly through the hydraulic system to form a sealed filter chamber. The compression force shall be large enough to ensure that the filter chamber does not leak during filtration.
B. Feed filtration: Start the feed pump and put the suspended hydraulic pressure into the filter chamber. Under the action of pressure, the liquid in the suspension is discharged through the filter cloth, while the solid particles are intercepted on the filter cloth and gradually form a filter cake.
C. Filter cake washing (optional): If you need to improve the purity of the filter cake, you can wash the filter cake through the washing system. The washing liquid enters the cake through the filter cloth, takes away the impurities and then comes out.
D. Drying (optional): In order to further reduce the moisture content of the filter cake, compressed air or hot air shall be passed to dry the filter cake.
E. Unloading: After filtration is completed, loosen the filter plate, take out the filter cake, and clean the filter cloth to prepare for the next round of filtration cycle.
