Air compressor

An air compressor (referred to as an air compressor for short) is a device that compresses air and stores it in an air storage tank or directly supplies it to gas-consuming equipment. The following is its specific introduction:

1. Working Principle

The working principle of an air compressor is relies on mechanical structures such as pistons, screws, and impellers to compress air in a closed space, thereby increasing the air pressure.

2. Classification and Functions

Piston air compressor: It compresses air by periodically changing the volume of the cylinder through the reciprocating motion of the piston within the cylinder. Its characteristics are a wide pressure range and high efficiency, but the structure is relatively complex, with relatively large vibration and noise.

Screw air compressor: It relies on the rotation of a pair of intermeshing yin and yang rotors, causing the rotor tooth grooves, casing and end faces to form a closed volume that continuously decreases. It has the advantages of simple structure, stable operation, low noise and stable continuous gas supply.

Centrifugal air compressor: It uses a high-speed rotating impeller to do work on the air, giving it a high speed. Then, in the diffuser, the kinetic energy is converted into pressure energy. It is suitable for occasions with large flow and relatively low pressure.

Scroll air compressor: It mainly consists of two intermeshing scroll discs forming a compression chamber. One disc is fixed, and the other disc moves in a circular motion around the eccentricity of the fixed disc, constantly changing the volume of the compression chamber to compress air. Small in size, light in weight, low in vibration, low in noise and high in reliability.

3. Work Characteristics

Continuous operation capability: Many air compressors are designed for long-term continuous operation and shall stably provide compressed air.

High efficiency: Modern air compressors shall achieve high energy utilization efficiency through optimized design and the use of high-efficiency motors.

Noise level: The noise levels of different types of air compressors vary, but many models have adopted noise reduction measures to adapt to different working environments.

Maintenance-free: Some advanced air compressors adopt a maintenance-free design, reducing the daily maintenance workload and costs.
