Aspergillus Niger Introduction

Aspergillus Niger is a common filamentous fungus, belonging to the subphylum hemicytosporae, Hyphomycetes, Hyphomycetes, Cladisporaceae, Aspergillus genus. The following is a detailed introduction of Aspergillus Niger.

1. Morphological Characteristics

Mycelium: The mycelium is well-developed and highly branched, being a multinucleated multicellular fungus. The mycelial mass spreads rapidly, initially white, then transforming into bright yellow until it becomes a thick black velvety texture. The reverse side is colorless or slightly yellowish-brown in the center.

Conidia: The conidiophores arise perpendicularly from specialized thick-walled and swollen mycelial cells (foot cells). The conidial head is shaped like a "chrysanthemum", and the vesicles at the top of the conidiophore produce asexual cells - small pedicels, which support the phialides on the conidiophore. The conidia are brown and spherical, smooth or rough, with a diameter of 2.5-4 micrometers.

Color: The mycelium and spores frequently exhibit various colors, such as black, brown, green, yellow, orange, and brown. Different strains have distinct colors.

S2. Growth conditions

Temperature: the growth temperature is about 28.

Humidity: The minimum relative humidity is 88%.

PH value: the optimal growth pH3-7, the optimal acid production pH is 1.8-2.5.

3. Distribution

Widely distributed in soil, air and grains all over the world, it shall cause mold deterioration of food, grains and fruits and vegetables, and some can produce carcinogenic aflatoxin.

4. Characteristics

Rich enzyme system: It has a variety of active enzyme system, can use starch substances, and has certain decomposition ability for protein, tannin, cellulose, and pectin.

Strong adaptability: Strong resistance to ultraviolet rays and ozone, high heat resistance and adaptability to extreme environments (including space radiation).

Rapid growth: colonies grow fast, black or dark brown, which shall be identified in 1 to 4 days.
